DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT

Deleting your Truckly Network account

The present page explains how to delete a Truckly Network account, what happens to the information held about you once deletion has been requested, what is preserved afterwards, and for how long. Deletion is permanent. Once the process has been completed, the account cannot be restored, and the content published through it cannot be recovered.

Two routes are available. The first operates inside the application and is the quickest. The second operates from the present page and exists for anyone who has already removed the application from the device, who has changed telephone number or lost access to it, or who simply prefers to write to us.

Route one: deleting from inside the application

Open Truckly Network, go to your profile, open the account settings, and select the option to delete the account. You will be asked to confirm the request, and the request takes effect at once. Access to the account ends immediately, and the erasure described below then proceeds.

Removing the application from your device does not delete your account. Uninstalling removes the copy of your chats held locally on the phone, and nothing else, so the account remains open until deletion is requested by one of the two routes described here.

Route two: requesting deletion after you have uninstalled the application

Write to support@truckers-network.com with the words "Delete my account" in the subject line, and state in the message the mobile telephone number registered with the account, including the country code, together with your display name if you remember it. No copy of an identity document is required, and none should be sent.

Before anything is erased, we confirm that the request comes from the person who holds the account. Confirmation is normally achieved by sending a one-time code by short message to the registered number and asking you to return it, or, where the profile contains an electronic mail address, by accepting a request sent from that address. Where the registered number is no longer in your possession, write to us and explain the situation, and we will identify a proportionate alternative, which may involve a small number of questions about the account that only its holder could answer. Anything supplied purely in order to confirm identity is used for that purpose alone and is then erased.

A request is acknowledged within 10 business days of receipt. Erasure is completed within 30 days of the moment the request is confirmed, and you receive written confirmation once the process has finished. Where the volume or the complexity of requests requires more time, we may extend the period once, by a further 45 days, and we will tell you before the first period expires.

No charge is made for the deletion of an account.

What is deleted

Deletion removes the account record itself, together with the mobile telephone number registered to it, the display name, and every profile field you completed, including your full name, electronic mail address, company, home base, trailer type, years of experience, profile photograph, language settings, and profile-sharing code.

Content you published is removed as well: your alerts and the photographs or video attached to them, the comments you wrote, the votes and reactions you registered, and the messages you sent in one-to-one and community chats, together with the photographs, video, voice messages, documents, and locations attached to them. The corresponding files held in our storage are deleted with them.

Any photograph of a commercial driver’s license still held for verification purposes is deleted, along with the license number, its expiration date, and the verified status attached to the profile.

Your last known position is deleted. Only one such record exists at any time, since each update overwrites the previous one, and no history of your movements is ever built.

Your community memberships, your voice room memberships, and the record of the rooms you joined are removed. Nothing needs to be deleted in respect of the audio itself, since a voice room is never recorded or stored at any point.

Your push notification token and your session tokens are deleted, so notifications stop and any device still signed in is signed out.

Files in our storage that lose their association with an account are removed automatically by the lifecycle rules of the storage service.

Copies of your information held in our encrypted backups are not immediately accessible, and they are overwritten in the ordinary backup cycle, in any event within 90 days of the deletion. During that interval the information is not used for any purpose and is restored only where a technical failure obliges us to restore the whole system, in which case the deletion is applied again.

What remains after deletion, and why

A small amount of information survives the deletion of an account. Each item appears below, together with the reason for keeping it and the period after which it goes.

Messages you sent to another person remain in that person’s copy of the conversation, on their device and in their account, exactly as an ordinary text message does. Deleting your account removes your side of the conversation and cannot reach into the account of the person you wrote to.

Where another user has quoted, saved, or captured by means of a screenshot something you published, the copy in their possession is outside our reach.

Records of reports, of moderation decisions, and of enforcement action are kept for 24 months from the closure of the account. Records of that kind allow a decision to be explained if it is challenged, allow repeated conduct to be recognized, and protect the users who submitted the reports.

Where an account was suspended or banned for reasons of safety, an irreversible cryptographic representation of the telephone number is kept for 12 months, so that the ban cannot be defeated by registering again with the same number the following day. The number itself is not kept in a readable form, and the representation cannot be converted back into a telephone number.

Records of one-time passcode requests are kept for 12 months, in order to detect and to prevent abuse of the sign-in mechanism.

Correspondence received at our published address is kept for 24 months from the closure of the matter, so that we can show what was asked and what was done.

Where information is relevant to a legal claim that has been made or is reasonably foreseeable, to an investigation, or to a specific legal obligation, it is kept for as long as the matter requires and is erased when the matter ends. Material reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is preserved for one year, as required by 18 U.S.C. § 2258A(h), or for longer where a competent authority asks us to preserve it.

Aggregated figures that describe usage in numbers and cannot be traced back to any individual are unaffected by deletion.

Deleting individual items without closing the account

You do not need to delete your account in order to remove particular material. An alert, a comment, or a message can be deleted individually inside the application, and the corresponding files are removed from our storage. A profile photograph and any optional profile field can be cleared at any time. A commercial driver’s license submitted for verification can be withdrawn by writing to support@truckers-network.com, which causes the images to be deleted and the verified status to be removed.

Permissions granted to the application, including access to location, the camera, the microphone, the photograph library, and notifications, are withdrawn in the settings of your phone and take effect immediately.

Accounts belonging to a child under 13

Truckly Network is not open to children under the age of 13. A parent or legal guardian who believes that a child under that age has registered may write to support@truckers-network.com, giving the telephone number used to register. Access is suspended as soon as the report is received, and the account and the information associated with it are deleted within 30 days of confirmation, without any requirement that the child request it personally.

Urgent removals concerning safety

Deleting an account is not the appropriate route for an urgent safety problem, and it should never be used in place of one. Content that is abusive, that endangers a minor, or that consists of an intimate image published without the consent of the person shown, should be reported to support@truckers-network.com, with the words "Child safety" or "Intimate image removal" in the subject line, or through the reporting function inside the application, so that it can be dealt with under the procedures set out in our Terms of Use and End User License Agreement. Reports of that kind are handled first, and a request to remove an intimate image published without consent is acted upon within 48 hours.

If something goes wrong

Should a deletion request be refused, you will be told why, and you may appeal by replying to support@truckers-network.com with the word "Appeal" in the subject line. An appeal is decided within 45 days by someone who did not take the original decision, and the outcome is sent to you in writing. If the appeal is refused, you will also be told how to complain to the Attorney General of the state in which you live.
